In The Club:
Who Invited you to join Exchange? I was invited to a lunch meeting by Troy Bruce whom I was in the Billings Jaycee’s with for several years. The Billings Jaycee’s club had some leadership issues, which allowed me to search for another Community Organization to become involved in. Troy joined the Heights Exchange Club in 2001 and thought it would be a good fit for what I was looking for in a service club. My family and I have been part of the Heights Community for over 10 years so the Heights Exchange Club was a perfect fit for me.
What Committees have you served on? I have been a co-committee chair of the Youth Basketball tournament for 7 years. I have been committee chair of our annual golf tournament multiple times and served on the golf committee 10 years. I am the co-chair of our Marketing Committee. I have been on the Student of the Month Selection Committee for 6 years. I have been committee chair of our Child in Need program for the past 8 years.
What is your Favorite Exchange club Event? Without a doubt my favorite Club Event is the Child in Need program. Every year we get the opportunity to work with our low income schools in the Billings Heights to help Children in need. We start the school year out by buying backpacks, school supplies, etc. so each child gets what they need to start the school year. In addition, we get to fulfill the needs of multiple families at Christmas Time by supplying food and gifts for Families in need. Guidance Counselors select these families so they are all in true need of help.
What Community issue would you like to see our club address? There is a growing population of homeless, runaway and abused kids in our community. We have some non-profit organizations that help yet there is a huge need to support these at-risk youth and their families. The Heights Exchange club can be a support system by giving monetary donations or just a helping hand to improve the situation.
Outside our club:
I am married to Caryn for the past 18 years and we have one son (Mason) who is 10 years old. My wife works for First Interstate Bank as a Crime Analyst and our son attends Bitterroot Elementary and currently a fifth grader. We have three fish. I am a Software Development Manager for Computers Unlimited and have been with the company for 21 years. As a Development Manager, our main job functions include providing first line leadership of employees in the Systems Development group and manage customer relationships throughout the company maintaining a philosophy of service, quality, and professionalism. I enjoy coaching youth sports and have had the opportunity to coach soccer, baseball, basketball, flag football and Lacrosse. Our family enjoys serving our Church (St. Bernard’s) in the Heights and traveling and watching our son play hockey for the Billings Jr. Bulls. I enjoy hiking, fishing, golfing, watching the Duke Blue Devils play basketball and spending time with my wife and kid.
Anything Else?
One thing that some members may not know about me is that I’m an Identical twin. My brother lives in Missoula and is a financial advisor for Edward Jones and I am 8 minutes older.
As far as the club is concerned, we are truly blessed to be part of such a great organization that cares so much about making our Community a better place to live. It is always great to see people step up to give back. I feel it is better to give than to receive and we show that with the multiple events and projects we do in the Heights Exchange Club. Our group is small in numbers yet big in heart. We focus on Community, Youth, Veterans and the prevention of Child abuse and could not image Exchange not being part of my life.
